Welcome to Grammers’ Recipe Box!
When cleaning out my Grandaddy’s garage I came across a bunch of old note cards that were obviously from my Grandmother’s (a.k.a Grammers) recipe box. She was an avid and exquisite cook. I decided one day that I wanted to cook all of them and share the experience with my family and friends. I’m so excited to learn a little more about her and even more share a little about her.
The dishes range from quintessential southern dishes like Grits Pilaf, to unusual dishes like Asparagus Salad Mold. When rediscovering these dishes I will imagine her preparing food for my Grandfather, Mom, Aunt and Uncle. What did they talk about that night over dinner? How different was it from what I will talk about with my family over the same meal? It should be a fun journey and best of all, there will be some tasty food along the way!
*My husband and I are pescatarians, so we will be swapping out any meats with tofu or seafood. However you will be able to see the original recipe on the posted notecards.
Hey girl ~ this is awesome! I am so excited for you to do this and I look forward to trying some of the recipes too ~ with meat of course!
What a beautiful way to remember Grammers!
Love ya,
Erin,
What a great idea. The salad looks awesome. I always love a good salad. Glad to know our grandparents generation ate fancy salads too! But, they probably did not pay $12 for it at a restaurant. ha ha
Erin: What an extradionary way to honor your grandmother!!! You have made us all proud. Love to you. Nancy
Great idea, Ritch. Can’t wait to try them all. Will there be breakfast dishes? You know I love some breakfast.
I love this so much! I look forward to keeping up with your journey!!
Love the new format! I think I’m going to attempt the salad for Christmas Day lunch!
This is awesome, Erin. Very cool concept and site.
